Gabbie fell down at "Miah and Sarah's house" yesterday. I think she hit her lip on the stairs of Amy and Joel's deck in the backyard.
There is that panicky moment where you hear your child scream and you know that this time they are hurt for real, and you prepare yourself for the worst. I ran outside and got her, blood on her face, she was soaking wet from running in the sprinkler, and I didn't care. I just wanted to hold her and make it better.
Blood coming from your child's mouth is always scary. Especially when you have had a niece that fell on stairs and her teeth were actually pushed back up into her jaw. Yuck. Thankfully with some paper towels and inspection, Gabbie's bleeding stopped. She scaped the outside and inside of her top lip and has a cut on her upper gum. Her lip swelled up yesterday, but today it is better and she has only said that it hurt once since then. She is a tough cookie!
I hope Amy doesn't feel bad or responsible, things happen! I remember when kids would get hurt at my house and I would feel responsible and helpless even when I had nothing to do with it, you feel bad! I'm kind of glad we were at Amy's house, she helped get dry towels and clothes for Gabbie and I knew someone else was there (another mom too!) and that if there was something seriously wrong, she would know what to do! Thankfully that was not necessary and I lived through it! It didn't even upset me as much Joey not bringing me home a snowcone last night!

Glad she's feeling better today. The tooth thing can be scary.
I guess I'm used to little bleeding pre-schoolers running in from the back yard. They usually don't give me enough time to freak out. I just get to pick them up, wipe off the blood and they're ready to go outside again. I could put them in a padded room and they'd figure a way to scrape, bruise or bleed.
