Friends

I have some great friends. Some old, some new, some in between!

It's funny that in high school your life often times revolves around your friends and petty disagreements, and you swear to each other how you will always be friends forever. Ha, ha! One semester out of high school and all those "best friends" were not so great anymore. I had gone away to school, they had stayed at home, and there were quite a few changes. I saw them for their pettiness and meanness towards each other. Only one remained my friend and that is because I backed her up over "the issue." She was getting engaged to her high school sweetheart, and the other "friends" thought it was too fast and they were too young. Real reason the "friends" didn't like it, "JEALOUSY!" The majority of them still have never dated or gotten married. Nothing is wrong with this, except that they complain constantly about not having anyone.

(sorry for the tangent!)

Then I am at college, and meet lots of different people. Some friends come and go, I meet them, get to know them, have fun, but circumstances pull us apart. Then sometimes, new circumstances put us back together! One of my good friends was my freshman roommate. She was only in my life for six months, but we are still in contact and there is no one else like her!

Then there is Amber. She was my suitemate for two years in college, and then a good friend. We have had some major ups and downs, but we are still friends. Knowing that we have had difference in opinions, yet been able to remain friends that truly care about each other through thick and thin is very special. I can't believe it has been 7 years now, and that we have such a great friendship that she will stay up with me all night when I "think" I'm in labor!

I met Amy in college. I was a freshman. She was a Senior, and married, and hung out on Spence 1st North a lot! Her husband was working nights, so she came and talked to us lowly freshman. I really liked Amy, but then she graduated, and I only saw her a few times while she worked at Evangel. Then suddenly we found ourselves at the same church and Amy had two little ones, and I was having my first. We were both moms then and had something more in common than Evangel. Somehow out of this has come a friendship that is a lot of fun. Even if we don't get to see each other very often, we laugh together a lot. Whether through email or over the phone, I know there is always a mom there who understands where I am coming from!

Hanna has to be one of my "newest" friends. I have wanted to be friends with her for a long time. Ever since she lived across the hall from me my sophomore year in college. But it just never seemed to work in the dorms. She was very busy with school, and we had different interests. She did however become really good friends with Amber and they lived together for awhile. Just recently, through our mutual friendship with Amber have we been able to talk and hang out and get to know each other better and have found that we have a lot in common. It is fun to be making a new friend!

It's amazing that I have these three good friends in town and yet they are so different from each other in one area.
Amy: Has two preschoolers and is very, very busy being a terrific mom and friend to lots of people.
Amber: Works as a full-time teacher and wants very badly to have a baby of her own soon, but is struggling with medical issues.
Hanna: Works as a full-time teacher also, and has decided that she never wants kids. (But thankfully loves other peoples!)

Thank you to each of you, you make my life brighter! You encourage me, make me laugh, go with me for food cravings, are willing to listen to my ramblings, and all of you love my daughter which means a lot! Friends make life so much better!

Ahhh what a nice post to wake up to. But we don't just have kids in common... Don't forget the little things like pecans and green chilies. ;)

Love ya. You make life more fun.

True! That is another reason you are an awesome friend! You are the only one I have that understands that green chile and pecans are essentials! Okay, I also like local raw honey and consider it a tragedy if I don't have like 1/2 gallon of laying around the house! It makes green tea taste awesome and it makes me feel like I am "healthy" or something!

1/2 a gallon of honey "laying around the house"... sound's messy to me.

Of course it has to be local... for allergies and such. I think it is essential too, but am content with one small bottle or jar.
