Okay, so I was in the middle of the previous post and Joey brought me home a shake. A good reason to stop typing and drink yummy chocolate. Another good reason to stop typing, your little girl needs you, or your baby smiles at you, or your husband wants to kiss you, or you win a million dollars. Unfortunately I had a bad reason to stop typing tonight.
I was sitting here with my shake and Joey was going to relax in his chair, when we heard the sound of rushing water upstairs. We thought, "hmmm, maybe Gabbie got out of bed and decided to run the bath." At least that is what I was praying in my heart. Joey ran upstairs. No such luck.
The little flexible pipe that connects the wall to our toilet had come out of the toilet and was spraying our bathroom with the force of a garden hose. Argh! And even more unfortunately, we had recently discovered that our toilet does NOT have a shut-off valve, WHAT??? Nor is there a shut-off under our bathroom sink, WHAT??? Joey runs outside to find the shut-off for our whole house, and I run upstairs to the mess. We have no handy towels, I grab the hose and hold it shut with my thumb, but know I can't do it for long. When the pressure started to build up and my thumb was about to give out, I grabbed our stainless steel trash can, chucked the trash into our sink and let the water pour into the trash can. Then I dumped the water into the toilet and started over. I still got a lot on the floor, but it was better than all of it on the floor. That is the 4th time this bathroom has flooded in the past couple of months. Argh, again.
Joey gets the water shut-off on his second try in the very dark neighborhood. The water stops. Then the clean-up with every towel in the house begins. Our carpet is soaked, and water was pouring into our laundry room downstairs through the light and ceiling and walls. So we had to clean up two rooms. And our water is still shut-off until we can fix the toilet tomorrow. Oh the joy of a house!
Okay, I'm going to go before anything else comes along.
By the way. Gabbie was worried about the water and why mommy had on soaking wet pajamas. Davy was in the same room and slept through everything! Yay for 1 month olds!
