Through the eyes of a toddler

I wonder why we buy toys. After all, it seems that kids are usually happier and more intrigued by everyday objects. A printer box becomes a car, a boat, a tent, a bed, or a doghouse. Pots and pans are to cook with or to bank on. Pan lids make very loud cymbals, and chopsticks are great drumsticks to play with.

Yesterday Gabbie was pretending that an apple slice was really a telephone, complete with buttons and all, yet she has 4 pretend cell phones in the living room. She pretends that all kinds of things are cameras, she doesn't need a fake one. She also pretends to brush and "cut" your hair with all kinds of objects, including pacifiers. What an imagination. That is what is great about this age.

Toys that are wonderful. Baby dolls and baby bottles with baby clothes and a cradle, oh and a stroller (okay, apparently anything baby related is wonderful at the moment). Blankets. Blocks. Coloring books and colors along with a chalkboard. BOOKS. Those are the main things that she plays with. And of course the ultimate--videos. Even though in the past week she has watched very little videos or tv. Which is nice. For all of us.
