Some people say that babies are harder to take care of. Now while they do take a substantial amount of time and attention, they must have never dealt with a toddler.
To get Davy to sleep I simply hold him. Sometimes rock him, usually give him a pacifier and make sure he has a clean diaper on. He passes out and I can lay him down.
However, in order for Gabbie to take a nap, their is a whole procedure that must be followed. She needs her Dora pillow, her blue bear blanket, her cup of whatever, and a bup (pacifier, I know, I know, we need to throw it away). Then she usually wants a story and then to be rocked. We are trying to cut this out of the routine currently, so that it takes less time and I don't have to worry about Davy screaming in the background. Or he rocks with us. Today after Joey put Gabbie down for a nap, she started crying for "Mommmmmmy!" I went in and held her and she was asleep. I laid her down in her bed, tragic crying ensued. I ended up kneeling on the floor, leaning over the railing of her bed with one hand under her head, the other on her back, and her trying to hug me at the same time. And I stayed this way until my knees hurt, my arm was asleep, and so was Gabbie. Now I could have let her scream, but knowing her, that would have kept her up and made her cranky for the rest of the day. Besides, I have a headache, and just don't want that right now.
Oh, David. Thank you for being easy right now!

Hmm... you're either more patient than I am or more desperate for your little girl to take a nap. I just gave up and slept on the couch myself... turns out mommy needed a nap a lot more than Sarah did anyway.
